Some prop firms let you try their evaluation for free. A free trial is practice: the firm's rules on a demo account, with nothing paid out. A free challenge is rarer, because passing it can fund you. The first table compares 10 free programs from the firms' own pages; below it, the same firms with their current codes for when you are ready to buy, ranked with firms we have an affiliate agreement with first, then by tier and Trustpilot rating.

Free trials and free challenges compared

A free trial is practice: the firm's own rules on a demo account, with nothing paid out. A free challenge is different, because passing it can lead to a funded account. Every row comes from the firm's own pages; where the firm does not say, the table says so.

Firms we have an affiliate agreement with are listed first, four of them at the top of that group; within each group, firms are ranked by our editorial tier and Trustpilot rating. Trustpilot figures are estimates from our research, not live-fetched. Always confirm current rules and pricing on the firm's official site before buying.

How to use a free trial before you buy

Run the trial on the same size and model as the challenge you plan to buy. FundingPips and FTMO let you pick the exact model; FundedNext and E8 copy their main CFD challenge. Trade it as if the fee were real, because the habits are what carry over.

Read what is easier than the paid version. Most trials are one phase, and some lower the target: FTMO's 2-Step trial asks 5% instead of 10%. A pass is a good sign, not proof that you will pass the paid challenge.

Can you get a funded account for free?

Rarely. Among the firms we list, BrightFunded's Free $1K Challenge is the one free evaluation that can fund you: pass it and the $1,000 funded account pays 80% of profits in real cash. Every other program in the table is practice only. The other route is a competition or a giveaway, which we track on the prop firm giveaways page.

Frequently asked questions

Does FTMO have a free trial?

Yes. FTMO's Free Trial is free, needs no card and runs for 14 days on a practice version of the 2-Step Challenge, the 1-Step Challenge or the Instant Account, Phase 1 only. The 2-Step trial asks 5% profit instead of 10%, with a 5% daily and 10% maximum loss. It pays nothing and does not lead to an FTMO Account. You can repeat it, one trial at a time.

Does FundingPips have a free trial?

Yes. It runs 14 days per phase on a copy of the 2 Step Standard ($5K-$100K) or the 2 Step Pro ($5K-$200K) with the paid rules, free and without a card or ID. Profits are never paid and the trial cannot become a Master account. It runs on MT5 only, which FundingPips does not offer in the US.

Can you get a funded account for free?

Rarely. BrightFunded's Free $1K Challenge is a no-fee 1-step challenge: a 10% target, a 3% daily loss and a 6% trailing maximum loss. Passing it opens a free $1,000 funded account that pays 80% of profits in real cash. The other free programs in the table are practice only. Competitions and giveaways, on our giveaways page, are the other way to win a funded account.

Do free trials pay out?

No. Every free trial in the table is practice only: FTMO, FundingPips, FundedNext, E8, Audacity, City Traders Imperium, Fintokei, Moneta and Trade The Pool pay nothing on a trial and do not turn it into a funded account. FundedNext's only reward for hitting the target is a 5% coupon for new users.
