Activation fees are a futures-side surprise: you pass the evaluation, then get asked for another $99-$150 before the funded account goes live. These firms publish a $0-activation route on at least one plan, and the From price is that plan's price, not the firm's cheapest plan - ranked by tier and Trustpilot rating, with current discount codes.

What is an activation fee?

It is a one-off charge some futures firms bill after you pass the evaluation, to switch on the funded (usually simulated-funded) account. It is separate from the evaluation fee and from any monthly subscription, so a cheap $49 evaluation with a $149 activation costs $198 before you trade a single funded contract. Forex/CFD firms rarely use the term at all.

Do firms without an activation fee cost more overall?

Sometimes — a few firms sell both routes, with the no-activation path priced higher per month, so the total depends on how long you take to pass. Compare the full path to funded: evaluation fee plus however many months of subscription plus activation, not the headline number. The firm pages above list each plan's billing shape.
